Getting outside

We are enjoying our time outside this year!  The pictures below capture a few weekends that include the Soleburner 5k in Appleton, park time with grandma Dawn, the Cellcom Kids 3/4 mile kids run and hitting the trails at UWGB.  This summer is dedicated to making memories with friends and family by getting outside and making the most of each day.

super excited to race

Soleburner 5k, look at that family go

Crosby decided it was running time.  He had
a blast darting through the clumps of people along his
path and beating the walkers to the finish line

Sprinting to the finish

Once he saw the finish he took off and "won" the race.

Post race family photo

Crosby loving the swings with Grandma Dawn

Walking to the start line at the Cellcom (awww)

Watching the big kids race to the finish
& getting pumped

Mellenthin boys pre-race

Crosby was jumping in excitement (Love, love, love it)

Parker was ready for his run.  Crosby wouldn't let go of his hand

Pen and Crosby waiting for Parker to hit the home stretch

In the starting coral.
(It's was his first run without a parent running beside him)

And the 8-year-olds are off

Nice and easy start

Coming into the stadium

Taking it all in at Lambeau

One lap around the field and back to the finish

exiting the stadium and hitting the player's tunnel
Finishing strong!
The MC said  he was a  "Clay Matthews Junior, coming in hot".

Future sprinter?
He enjoys short sprints more than distance (just like his mom).

Uncle Mark made it in time to watch both of the boys run.

Chilling in Lambeau Pre Crosby's race

This 3-year-old is so ready to race with the 5-year-olds

Pen and Crosby entering the stadium, still running!

Making their way around the field

Speed burst as he got closer to the tunnel

Someone told him he was almost done and he took off (up hill).

Out came Crosby's famous words "I beat ya"!

"Running fast makes my belly hurt"

Crosby earned his first race medal

I think the belly still hurts a little, we couldn't get a smile.

A couple hours after our big race and it was time for trail running.
We finally figured out how to tire this one out.
He fell asleep sitting up watching a dinosaur movie
shortly after we got home
(and he continued to sleep for 12 hours).

Unfortunately, he couldn't keep up with the 8-year-olds
but he tried his hardest!

Rollin down hill at UWGB

I made the boys wait and let Crosby lead (SO EXCITED!)

The big kids charging the hill.

The boys enjoying a break halfway around the 4.5 mile loop

Parker and Jacob during the scavenger hunt Mary organized for the kids

Making memories, Mellenthin style!
